About Us

The Georgian Ceramic Association was established in 1998. It comprises sixty natural persons and four legal entities. Between 1985 and 2013, the Association organized and hosted eight international conferences at the Georgian Technical University, which were attended by more than 1,000 scientists. Since 1999, the Association has regularly published the journal Ceramics, featuring papers in four languages: Georgian, English, German, and Russian. On October 10–13, 2010, and October 10–13, 2012, the Georgian Ceramic Association, hosted by the Georgian Technical University, held the First and Second International Conferences for Students and Young Scientists in Materials Science. The conferences are held under the coordination of ECERS, the JECS Trust, and the Georgian Technical University.

Aims & Scope

Overview & Target Audience

The journal serves as an interdisciplinary platform intended for researchers, engineers, and scientists across virtually all fields of science and engineering. It is also designed for undergraduate, masters and doctoral students worldwide, including members of the International Ceramic Federation (ICF) and the European Ceramic Society (ECERS).

Core Research Areas

The journal publishes high-quality original research, critical reviews, and significant scientific works covering both fundamental science and industrial applications of advanced materials. The scope includes, but is not limited to:

  • Advanced Ceramics & Composites: Engineering ceramics, bioceramics, superconducting ceramics, and ceramic-polymer composites.
  • Glasses & Coatings: All types of functional glasses, glazes, porcelain, and protective enamels.
  • Nanotechnology: Nanomaterials, nanochemistry, and experimental high-tech manufacturing.
  • Traditional & Binding Materials: Silicate ceramics, cement, cast stone, and innovative binding technologies.
  • Functional Materials: Electro-magneto-optical materials, photonics, and smart materials.

Applied Fields & Industrial Scope

We bridge academic research with practical industrial experience by welcoming contributions on:

  • Industrial technical retrofitting, new equipment, and resource/energy-sparing technologies.
  • Raw material base optimization and the recycling of industrial waste.
  • Interdisciplinary applications in mechanical engineering, transport systems, power engineering, metallurgy, electronics, medicine, and chemistry.
  • Industrial economics, marketing, and factory case studies.
